Tag 62-65   

Jetzt hat es mich doch tatsächlich auch einmal für eine Nacht erwischt, und nach Durchfall Übelkeit und Kopfschmerzen hat es geholfen, den Tag im Bett zu schlafen, bis ich abends schon wieder bei Kräften war und mit allen zurück beim Japaner die wohl bekannte Udon Suppe mit Tempora Schrimps Genossen habe – die tatsächlich wieder geschmeckt hat. Wie das wohl so ist, fühle ich mich heute nach so einer elendigen Nacht, frisch und voller Tatendrang, und freute mich schon nachts immer wieder an meinem Bett, dem Wellenrauschen und den Krähen, der herrlichen Temperatur und den strahlenden Aussichten auf einen neuen Tag in der Sonne.

Martin ist mit Luis aus Berlin angekommen, Andreas hat ihn gleich mit Handykarte und Roller ausgestattet und wir haben uns alle sehr über den neuen Besuch gefreut. 

Martin bringt viele spannende Gedanken mit, und schon nach kurzer Zeit sind wir in lange Gespräche über Gott und die Welt vertieft.

Ich habe wieder einen ersten Blick in das fast fertig gestellte Weltreise Buch über unsere erste Weltreise getan, dass nach Lektorat jetzt nur noch ein Korrektorat braucht. Da hab ich ja schon beschlossen, die KI einzusetzen – nun muss ich es nur noch tun. Es bleibt mein fester Vorsatz , es noch vor der Rückkehr nach Berlin fertig zu bekommen, so dass man dann diese Geschichte auch einmal im Buchform ins Regal stellen könnte.

Es bleibt eine erstaunliche Perspektive, die wir hier nach zwei Monaten reisen und einem Monat Goa haben, und wir sind dafür jeden Tag dankbar. Ich habe heute die Kinder gefragt, wie es Ihnen in der Schule gefällt, und Tara meinte, dass sie am Freitag immer bedauert, dass morgen keine Schule sei. Das finde ich eine erstaunliche Antwort . Sie meinte aber auch, dass sie am Ende des Wochenendes immer bedauern würde, dass es nicht noch weiter ginge. Also ist sowohl der Auftrag der Yellow School, den Kindern eine Lernerfahrung zu ermöglichen, die ihn Spaß macht erfüllt, als auch unser Ansatz am Wochenende mit Strand und anderen Ausflügen ein schönes Wochenende mit unseren Freunden zu ermöglichen.

Morpheus vermisst seine Freunde daheim, findet es aber gut, dass die Schule hier zu klein ist und man schon alle kennt. Auch die Ausflüge und der Sportunterricht gefallen beiden sehr. 

Velis hatte ein paar Tage frei, da es Elternsprechtage für die Schüler gab, an denen wir nicht teilnehmen mussten. Es ist für uns ein Genuss, auch mal wieder Zeit mit Velis verbringen zu können.

Lysander ist gut in Sri Lanka angekommen und erzählt, dass es dort viel grüner sei als in Goa, die Strände vielmehr wie in den Malediven aussehen, aber auch alles deutlich teurer sei. Der Unterricht mit den sechs bis achtjährigen Kindern macht Spaß, manche Kinder seien aber auch manchmal anstrengend. In seinem Vier-Bettzimmer hat er schon Freunde gefunden, aber natürlich ist man auch etwas mehr ohne Privatsphäre. Wir sind gespannt auf seine weiteren Erfahrungen.

Der Sonnenuntergang auf Andreas Terrasse ist schon zu einem festen Tagesordnungspunkt geworden, und auch das Schwimmen nach dem Frühstücken inspiriert uns weiter. Nadine und ich überlegen schon, ob wir nach dem gemeinsamen Laufen vielleicht einmal einen gemeinsamen Triathlon anpeilen sollten, aber hier gibt es sicherlich noch Übungsbedarf für uns beide beim Schwimmen und Radfahren. Wenn, dann lassen wir es ganz langsam und gemütlich angehen.

Wir haben uns alle „Flow“angeschaut, ein von der Schule empfohlener Animationsfilm mit Tiere ohne Text, aus Frankreich und Kanada . Wieder so oft mit so künstlerisch wertvollen Filmen ist, der Lehrerin und mir hat er sehr gut gefallen – die Kinder und Nadine fanden ihn langweilig. Aber der gemeinsame Kinoabend hat allen Spaß gemacht.

Überhaupt ist das Lesen hoch im Kurs, die Kinder üben sich darin, den Kindle statt dem Handy mit ins Restaurant zu nehmen, und ich flippe nach Velis Vorbild durch viele Kindle Unlimited Bücher, und fühle mich dabei wie in einer großen Bibliothek. Heute habe ich viel über die französische Revolution, den optimalen Trainingsplan mit 8 Minuten am Tag und das große Werk „Anfänge“der Kultur- Anthropologen David Gräber und David Wengrow gelernt, das mir Martin empfohlen hatte. Einige der interessanten Thesen darin sind etwa, dass die französischen Philosophen der Aufklärung, die Idee der Gleichheit und Brüderlichkeit, aus der Erfahrung der französischen Siedler und deren Austausch mit den Indianern in Amerika bezogen hätte.

Day 62-65   

Now I’ve actually been caught out for a night, and after diarrhea, nausea and a headache, it helped to spend the day sleeping in bed until I regained my strength in the evening and enjoyed the well-known udon soup with tempura shrimps with everyone back at the Japanese restaurant – which actually tasted good again. As it happens, after such a miserable night I feel fresh and full of energy today and was already enjoying my bed at night, the sound of the waves and the crows, the wonderful temperature and the bright prospects of a new day in the sun.

Martin arrived with Luis from Berlin, Andreas immediately provided him with a cell phone map and scooter and we were all very happy about the new visitor. 

Martin brings a lot of exciting thoughts with him, and after a short time we are engrossed in long conversations about God and the world.

I took a first look at the almost finished world travel book about our first trip around the world, which now only needs proofreading after editing. I’ve already decided to use AI – now I just have to do it. It remains my firm intention to finish it before I return to Berlin so that I can put this story on the shelf in book form.

It remains an amazing perspective that we have here after two months of traveling and a month in Goa, and we are grateful for it every day. I asked the kids today how they like school and Tara said that on Friday she always regrets that there is no school tomorrow. I think that’s an amazing answer. But she also said that at the end of the weekend she always regrets that there isn’t more. So both the Yellow School’s mission of providing a fun learning experience for the children and our approach of providing a fun weekend with our friends at the beach and other excursions are fulfilled.

Morpheus misses his friends at home, but thinks it’s good that the school here is too small and that we already know everyone. They also really enjoy the excursions and sports lessons. 

Velis had a few days off as there were parent-teacher conferences for the pupils, which we didn’t have to attend. It’s a pleasure for us to be able to spend time with Velis again.

Lysander has arrived well in Sri Lanka and says that it is much greener there than in Goa, the beaches look more like the Maldives, but everything is also much more expensive. The lessons with the six to eight-year-old children are fun, but some of the children are sometimes exhausting. He has already made friends in his four-bed room, but of course there is also a little more privacy. We are looking forward to hearing about his other experiences.

The sunset on Andreas terrace has already become a fixed item on the agenda, and swimming after breakfast continues to inspire us. Nadine and I are already thinking about whether we should perhaps aim for a triathlon together after running together, but there is certainly still room for both of us to practise swimming and cycling. If we do, then we’ll take it slow and easy.

We all watched „Flow“, a school-recommended animated film with animals and no text, from France and Canada. The teacher and I liked it very much – the children and Nadine found it boring. But the movie night together was fun for everyone.

In general, reading is very popular, the children are practicing taking their Kindle to the restaurant instead of their cell phones, and I’m following Velis example and flicking through lots of Kindle Unlimited books, feeling like I’m in a big library. Today I learned a lot about the French Revolution, the optimal training plan with 8 minutes a day and the great work „Beginnings“ by cultural anthropologists David Gräber and David Wengrow, which Martin had recommended to me. Some of the interesting theses in it are, for example, that the French philosophers of the Enlightenment would have drawn the idea of equality and fraternity from the experience of the French settlers and their exchange with the Indians in America.
