Tag 94 und 95 

Wir genießen die bisher beste Airport-Lounge in Hanoi mit Sushi und Maracuja, bevor es gegen Abend weiter nach Siem Riep in Kambodscha geht. Beim Aussteigen fühlt man sich wie in einer Sauna.

Die Visaprozedur am Flughafen in Siem Riep ist unkompliziert und kann auf iPads erledigt werden, die Beamten in ihren Uniformen mit viel Bling Bling sehen dagegen anachronistisch aus und verziehen keine Miene. Mit einem kleinen Bus geht es im Dunkeln weiter über Land, bis wir die Natural Relax Villa erreichen. Sie macht ihrem Namen alle Ehre, und auch um 21.30 Uhr gibt es im Restaurant noch etwas zu essen. Nach dem Ausschlafen verbringen alle den Vormittag am Pool und machen Schule. Kurz vor drei Uhr geht es endlich los, zwei der lustigen Rikschas, die als Anhänger an ein Moped gebaut sind, bringen uns durch wunderschöne Reisfelder zum Fluss. Dort steigen wir um in ein kleines Boot, das uns flußabwärts zum großen See bringt. Es ist Trockenzeit und der See ist nur etwa einen Meter tief. Immer wieder überholen uns lustige Speedboote, mit umgebaute Motoren, an denen mit langen  Stangen Propellern befestigt sind.

In der Regenzeit kann das Wasser bis zu 8 m höher stehen, deshalb sind die meisten Häuser in dieser Gegend auf Stelzen gebaut oder sie schwimmen ganz auf alten Benzinfässern. Wir fahren zu so einem Floating Village, dort leben alle auf schwimmenden Häusern.

Die Kinder sind froh und dankbar, doch in Deutschland zu leben. Aber der Besuch war für alle ein Highlight. Morgen geht es schon um 5:00 Uhr los, damit wir zum Sonnenaufgang in der Tempelanlage von Angkor Wat sind.

Day 94 and 95 

We enjoy the best airport lounge in Hanoi so far with sushi and passion fruit before continuing to Siem Riep in Cambodia in the evening. Disembarking feels like being in a sauna.

The visa procedure at the airport in Siem Riep is straightforward and can be completed on iPads, while the officials in their uniforms with lots of bling bling look anachronistic and don’t make a face. A small bus takes us overland in the dark until we reach the Natural Relax Villa. It lives up to its name and there is still something to eat in the restaurant at 9.30 pm. After a good night’s sleep, everyone spends the morning by the pool and goes to school. Shortly before three o’clock we finally set off, two of the funny rickshaws, which are attached to a moped as a trailer, take us through beautiful rice fields to the river. There we change to a small boat that takes us downstream to the big lake. It is the dry season and the lake is only about one meter deep. Again and again we are overtaken by funny speedboats with converted engines to which propellers are attached with long poles.

In the rainy season, the water can be up to 8 meters higher, which is why most of the houses in this area are built on stilts or float on old petrol barrels. We drive to a floating village where everyone lives on floating houses.

The children are happy and grateful to live in Germany after all. But the visit was a highlight for everyone. Tomorrow we leave at 5:00 a.m. so that we can be at the Angkor Wat temple complex for sunrise.
