On the Road to Hana on Maui

Tag 129 bis 131

Bei Hawaiian Airlines gab es freies WLAN, Velis hatte einen Platz frei neben sich, und der doppelte 12 April begann mit der Einreise in die USA. 

Wir waren etwas aufgeregt, aber am Ende wurden wir freundlich in den Vereinigten Staaten empfangen. Ein Umstieg in Honolulu, und weiter nach Maui. Dort wartete schon der weiße Chevrolet Bus mit 12 Plätzen auf uns. Erster Stop Raising Cane’s auf besonderen Wunsch von Tara – und eine große Portion Hähnchen mit der besonderen Soße war ausreichend für uns alle. 

Danach Walmart- immer wieder überwältigend. Aber wir fanden genug zu essen für die nächsten Tage. Die Packungsgrößen sind erstaunlich, die Preise für Brot, Gemüse und Eier auch -alles mindestens doppelt so teuer wie daheim. Aber freundlich und offen sind alle – hilfsbereit auch. Der erste Cybertruck am Flughafen und die vielen Pickups mit Monster-Reifen beeindruckend. Unser Appartement im Strandnähe der Hammer- eine richtige amerikanische Wohnung, wir fühlen uns sofort wie Amerikaner, wie in einem Movie. Aber auch die teuerste Bleibe der Reise, für 5 Tage mehr als für 12 Tage Wohnmobil.

Aber was für ein Genuss- jeder hat Platz und kann sich frei bewegen. 

Es ist warm, windig und der Strand nur über die Straße. 

Am Morgen gehe ich mit Nadine an der Küste entlang joggen. Den Tag lassen wir uns es gemütlich angehen und genießen den Sonnenuntergang am Strand. Und abends Netflix mit allen 8, die angesagte Miniserie: „Adolescence“. Heftig aber gut gemacht, ohne Cut jede Folge.

Heute dann „The Road to Hana“ – Nadine ruht sich aus und wir machen zu siebt um 7:30 früh los für große Tour einmal rund um die Insel. Es wird ein großartiger Tag mit schwimmen in Wasserfällen, einer der Traumstraßen der Welt mit 100 Kurven und Brücken, alle einspurig. 

Im Wasser zu schwimmen und nach oben zu schauen wie das Wasser aus 50 Meter Höhe herabstürzt aus dem Bergurwald- einfach magisch . Maui ist wunderschön.

Morgen soll es zum Vulkankrater auf 3000 Meter Höhe gehen. 

Day 129 to 131
Hawaiian Airlines had free Wi-Fi, Velis had a free seat next to him, and the double April 12 began with our entry into the United States.
We were a little nervous, but in the end we received a friendly welcome in the United States. A change of planes in Honolulu, and on to Maui. The white Chevrolet bus with 12 seats was already waiting for us there. First stop Raising Cane’s at Tara’s special request – and a large portion of chicken with the special sauce was enough for us all.
Then Walmart – always overwhelming. But we found enough to eat for the next few days. The pack sizes are astonishing, as are the prices for bread, vegetables and eggs – all at least twice as expensive as at home. But everyone is friendly and open – and helpful too. The first Cybertruck at the airport and the many pickups with monster tires are impressive. Our apartment near the beach is amazing – a real American apartment, we immediately feel like Americans, like in a movie. But also the most expensive place to stay on the trip, more for 5 days than for 12 days in a motorhome.
But what a pleasure – everyone has space and can move around freely.
It’s warm, windy and the beach is just across the road.
In the morning, I go jogging along the coast with Nadine. We take it easy during the day and enjoy the sunset on the beach. And in the evening, Netflix with all 8 of us, the latest mini-series: „Adolescence“. Fierce but well made, every episode without a cut.
Then today „The Road to Hana“ – Nadine rests and the seven of us set off at 7:30 in the morning for a big tour around the island. It’s going to be a great day with swimming in waterfalls, one of the world’s dream roads with 100 bends and bridges, all single-lane.
Swimming in the water and looking upwards as the water cascades down from a height of 50 meters out of the mountain jungle – simply magical. Maui is beautiful.
Tomorrow we are going to the volcanic crater at an altitude of 3000 meters.
